I have a Hanger-9 .46 size Sundowner. I have an E flight 46 to power it. The prop drive hub is a collet arrangement. Is ther a trick to keep this on the motor shaft? Twice I have lost the prop and hub in flight , never to be found. Tonight it happenrd and it did some damage to the wing. Would loctite help? Are there better prop hubs? HELP!

Are you sure you have the correct size collet adapter? If you crank the proper collet down with a socket wrench, or a decent length bar if it has a cone nut... it should hold well.

is this the SAME collet?
Try a different one of different manufacturers. I never have a collet come off in flight.

are you using the E Flite collets, if you are, get away from them, and buy a decent collet prop adapter, I have had nothing but problems with them, take care, Chellie

I have also had an issue, confirmed by my LHS as a general weakening of cheap metal the more times you crank them down. I've gone to a standard size, causing me to ream the APC props, but have found it much better.

Great Planes makes a decent one - they also go to the trouble of putting "APC ready" on the package so you know it will work with the APC-E's rather large/deep prop hub.

I've lost several prop/adapter/spinner combos because i had the brake on. Unless you'e flying a folder or have some very special need for it, disable the brake or go to a soft brake.
