I have this receiver and a Laser 4 transmitter but can't find out what the servo channel assignments should be. Hitec manual only provides user information for the transmitter. I guess they want to keep the receiver information a secret (grin).
Could some one please tell me what (channels 1 through 5) they are?

The O5S, while a five channel receiver has channels 1 thru 4 and 6, no channel 5. This is because channel 6 is more valuable for a second aileron servo.
In your case you will have channels 1-4 available for use, just as with any other receivers you may have.
The transmitter determines the channel order, so the manual for the transmitter will give you the correct info. The receiver will not have that information, as you could just as easily be a JR or an Airtronics owner, in which case the channel order would be different in each case.

Maybe I'm missing some thing but I find nothing regarding channel assignments in Hitec manuals for either the receiver &/or the transmitter. See attached link for the transmitter manual.

Ch 1 - ailerons
Ch2 - elevator
Ch3 - throttle
Ch4 - rudder
This would be the most common setting here in the states. On a rudder only plane you would put the rudder on ch1 to keep the main flight controls under your right thumb.

Hi Richard,
I can't believe how poor the transmitter instructions are
.
Actually, they did bury the info in there, but you had to read the bit about throttle end points to learn that it is on ch 3, under the dual rates for the 6 channel model, they did list the ailerons on ch 1 and the elevator on ch 2, at this point I guess you're to assume the rudder is on ch 4:o.
I don't have a hitec tranny, so I wasn't sure, seems it's the same as Fatuba
Good luck,
Pete
