Just knocked up another Mig 29 in 6mm Depron ..... stiffened with 2mm CF rods.

Fuselage where G&G uses two foamboard sandwiched ... I used 3 Depron ... and then thinned where tabs engage matching holes.

I moved motor forward and used the common 2826 2200kv Turnigy motor ... but with a 5x5 prop ... I'm hoping to stick a 4S into this one ...
Funny enough my 6x6 prop was just a touch big ... so I must have made slight error in tracing / cutting. No worries ... 5x5 will be fine.

Have to figure out a colour scheme ....

I altered servo position ... cut slot bigger and fitted 6x6 prop ... so back to 3S but I can always swap out to 6x4 and use 4S ..

Just need a couple of screw connectors for rods and weather to improve ...

Looks great Nigel. Linked my neighbor to this thread, he's getting into making planes out of foam board.

I'd draw up plans - but I have no way to scan and digitise.

For the price of the G&G planes - worth buying the kit ... then do as I did : Trace round the parts onto card or thin board. I used 3mm Depron.

Original G&G Mig 29 weighs in at 255gr + battery

Depron scratch version weighs in at 253gr + battery !!

I've tested the 2826 2200kv on 3S 6x6 prop and it kicks 22A

Drop back to 6x4 and she kicks 18A on 3S and 27A on 4S ... 4S 1600 weighs similar to the 3S 2200 ... so I have choice ...

The thrust on 4S is WOW !! I can't wait for weather to break and I can get out there with it !!

I've got one and it is a hoot to fly. 3s 2200's or 3s 1800's.

Add rudders and she'll hover ... you only need about 15 - 20 degree movement max as those twin fins are powerful ...

Its one model that with a small amount of wind - you can flat land it without moving forward.

Flew my Mig 29, 3 times today, it went great. Even though the wind was kind of crazy above 75 feet, the Mig handled it fine, a few strange looking turnarounds but no real problems.

On the maiden flight last week, the right side servo stopped working about 2 minutes into the flight. No apparent reason, it just stopped at neutral.
