There is a free version of Videopad available but some things are not able to be used but you can still do a reasonable Video with it.

I use iSkysoft Video Editor but I paid for it. I didn't think I paid for the Media Converter though.

Videopad is part of NCH - which I have ... basically a clone of the Movie Maker 2.6.

I found free version of Skysoft --- but cannot see an editor in yet ...

Cheers

interesting
These are mine. There is a more expensive version of the iSkysoft Vid Editor as well. It is called Filmora but I could see no advantage over what I have.
There are some trial ones HERE for Mac and Windows.

It looks like you can only get Filmora now and the free Vid Editor is a simplified one for trial.

Actually after all that kafuffle at the start it didn't do too bad a job of keeping it in frame.
It was a very dull day and we know cloud cover can affect satellite signals and reduce the number of locks. Maybe that was part of the problem? I wouldn't think the tag would be a super powerful Sat rx/tx due to its' size.

On another note, I use cropping on my edited videos to zoom in on the plane. It doesn't really lose any quality and it brings the planes in a lot closer.

Keep bringing those movies to us. :-)

Just set the camera to 1080p then you dont need to do any editing

Most of the lower cost 4k cameras dont actually capture a 4k image anyway, they 'upscale'. So you lose quality in the upscaling then you lose more quality when you edit back down to 1080p

The 4K WiFi Sportcam :

JPF ... I already brought it back to 1080 ... even 720 ... there's something wrong with the recordings because it grinds my i5 Core computer to a halt when loading to editor ... the audio starts synched but as video runs - it gets more and more out of synch till about 1 minute into video - its at least 20secs out !!

I've tried converting the video to other formats ... even stripping the audio and trying to synch it back in the editor.

The camera is going in my 'junk drawer' ... and I wait for my new one to arrive. Shame as the WiFi function is really good ... you start the camera and then switch to WiFi and it displays on a phone etc. You can make sure of aim ... then put back to own screen or leave it streaming.

I'm carrying on ... maybe another today - but we've had terrible rain last night and everywhere is waterlogged.

One point that has to be remembered .... the system relies mainly on GPS of Base vs TAG ... with the accuracy of GPS having a 2 - 3m average ... this means that when TAG gets close to Base - you will have trouble as they cannot reconcile distance / direction as separates.

As TAG gets closer - the pan / tilt speed has to increase for similar vertical metres change ...

If the model displaces 30m and is 100m out from base ... angle to tilt / pan is a lot less than when model is 10m out from base. But time to displace is same ... therefore base has to pan / tilt much faster.

I have just had a session outside with the dogs .... again a real B to get it to start and lock on properly ... took 3 restarts ....

One of the 'sales' items by DJI was the 'quick' start and not the extended set-up of the SS2 .... well SS - what happened ? So far I cannot get faster set-up than at least 2 minutes. In fact average is now more like 4 - 5mins to get any sense out of it.

Yesterday when checking the SS3 which had stood for 3 days without use. Battery was 0% with red box showing on screen. 3 days prior - it had been charging but varying its % level .. so I stopped charging when it showed 79%. Yesterday when I aw the 0% - I put charger back on and after 8 hours ... yes 8 hours - it showed 80%. I stopped charging.
Today - I check SS3 .... it went to the LOGO screen and locked up. I could not switch off ... couldn't do anything. I left it alone and finally 5 minutes later it decided to start up and go through initialisation. Once at menu screen it showed over 90% charge level. I could then switch off ... now it is back on charger and I wait to see if it will get to 100%.

My charger is a standard wall charger for mobile phones with 5V at 2A max.

The more I look at your videos, the more apparent it is that Soloshot are just liars and scammers. Their advertising has been misleading and their sample /demo videos are very obviously faked with the following and zooming.
I for one will never consider owning one of their products. It won't be long before another company does it right and Soloshot will be just a bad memory.
I just hope you can at least get some value for your money but I would be so frustrated by now I would have returned the thing and got my money back.

Yep ... updates are coming through ... I have a log sheet I keep as I make them ...

Base is now 3.1.3
Tag is now 3.0.8
Camera is now 3.0.5

I check for updates each 2 days as I am waiting for them to sort the calibration issue along with a few other items.

It seems to me that doing the following and tracking with GPS takes a lot of computing effort to know were to aim the camera.

Couldn't it be done with a coded transmitter on the plane, and a 4 way directional receiving antenna system.

What I mean by a 4 way directional antenna would be basically 4, highly directional antennas each receiving the signal.
If the antenna on the right side had a stronger signal than the left side, (probably using differential amplifiers) then it would turn the unit to the right, until the signals balanced.

Same thing for vertical.

Downside might be the physical size of whole thing.

Just a thought.

A buddy of mine is basically in the same boat. Sold his before even opening the box. Can buy an amazing hat cam setup for the price of this thing. A great idea but.... tracking small planes with rapid movement changes?

Its slowly getting there - updates are coming through every few days as they ramp up each item.

I would like to see the calibration side sorted as that makes system a PITA so far.

Possibly but to be accurate i think that the antenna would have to be widely spaced both horizontally and vertically. This would be highly inconvenient and impractical and render the camera more trouble that it's worth for most leisure purposes.

GPS even with it's inherent accuracy and reliability issues is almost certainly the 'least bad' option until the technology comes available to optically recognise and track objects in the same way as the human eye/brain does it. This sort of technology is being developed for driverless cars so may not be too far away. Soloshot 4 anyone

I think a documentary of Nigels adventure with Soloshot would sell well to the networks. Just kidding mate and really feeling for you.
On a lighter note my 3 x axis gimbal arrived for my Quad so I should get some nice footage now.

Good that improvements are being made. I really hope that software tweaks get the camera performing to your expectations.

At least they are listening - I get replies to my messages to them regarding faults / errors I see.
They offer work-rounds and advise.

I think it will eventually get there.

That looks a LOT better Nigel.

I wonder how it would cope with a bigger/faster model?
