Its fine as long as model is on a straight course without hard loops / turns etc.
I will be testing of course once the flooded fields dry out ...
At the moment I am trying to figure out a mount for my DJI Phantom ...

I wonder if the Pixio is any better. https://shop.movensee.com/en/?gclid=...UaAm7EEALw_wcB
It seems that there are a few coming to market now.
Oh, BTW . Happy Birthday for Tomorrow Nigel. :-)

Tks ... at the age now that each year takes its toll !
The Pixio ... I looked at it but its very short range and requires you to supply separate camera etc. But it works indoors ... which SS doesn't without special tag .....

Actually I see Pixio has a new system ... looks similar to SS3 !!
Maybe that has the range .... but price !!
Aime is smaller - cheaper but limited range .... the better range Pro has the area markers which really is silly today ...
Once SS3 sorts itself out - I reckon it will be about the best compromise.

Videos processing to Youtube at moment ... one via GoPro and other a mix of the two - SS3 and GoPro.
I am really annoyed - it took over 7.5mins to get a good green light lock. 3 moves of base to recalibrate, 3 on-off cycles of the tag, countless walking back and forth.
In -3C weather - I can do without that !!
Anyway once locked on - it actually followed the models quite well.
Settings :
Field
Centre
Narrow
1 sec
I did lose my remote mic audio but with all the clothing on to keep warm - it had a job to transmit through. So I added the GoPro audio in the latter part ..

Today I get out the SS3 having checked its latest FW etc. Weather is -2C but near clam .. grey overcast ... ready to snow again I reckon.
Switch on ... all powers up nice ... tags on ... calibrates and tracks first time ! Now that's a surprise.
I launch my 3D Hummer and it does a reasonable job following it except when it gets a bit close ...
I'm having a ball and then motor dies ... model goes into one of the tallest spindliest trees ...
My mate (keen Archer) - call him and he tries to spear it with arrow and fishing line. But line keeps breaking..
So we chat to 'services' who run a 'training exercise' ..... all down !!
My biggest worry was not the $40 model - but the $140 TAG !!
Video of flight uploading. I had to agree not to make public any photo etc. of services though ... sorry.

Really enjoying my Eagle .. and SS3 seems to be sorting out ....
I would like to get a better remote wireless mic ... but needs to be a light unit that can pitch / turn with base unit.

I have been playing with my 'scrap faulty unit' that Soloshot replaced ... they said I could keep the old ...
I managed to keep it going for a 10 minute session ...
The session was to see if it would record fully on TWO units from tracking one TAG. I could not see why not unless the Tag and Base had a code link.
Set up both SS3's ..... about 20m apart and with a relatively clear area.
Started up the new unit and calibrated with TAG docked as instructed. Once completed and camera recording .... I undocked TAG and started the old unit ... (I hooked up external power as well to it) ... docked the same TAG and calibrated.
Then proceeded to do a video about the garden to see what results ....
What I found interesting was the tracking exhibited same faults with both units. Tilting up and losing TAG ... but zoom was similar but not actually same. The new unit being also noisy on zoom.
The stop / start function worked fine as well on the TAG.
But basically success with dual tracking. This brings in possibilities of different angle videos / shots with multiple base units tracking same TAG. Owners who know others - can lock onto same TAG at games / Shows etc. to create good videos ....
Now all I need to do is find a way to keep that old unit powered up !!
