What's in a name?

This article will explain how to request a new username for you existing account. I get quite a few PM's asking if I can change a members userid. I figured this little addition might make things easier on the member and easier for me to keep track off.
Step 1:
Click on "My WattFlyer"

On the left hand side column you will see a new menu item called "Request Username"

Clicking on that will bring up a spot to input your requested username

Once you press submit, it will check the system to ensure that the username is not already in use and ask for permission to change it. Once permission is given, the system will send you a PM with Approved or Rejected and the appropriate reason.]

great... and the ones you WANT to change theor name won't!
Hey Mike, related question. If someone in your buddy list changes their name will it update or do you have to add them back in? How about ignore lists?

All rules follow the userid of the member. No matter what the user decides to call themselves, the user id never changes. For instance, I can change my username 5 times, however, my userid will always remain 15. So any rule or feature reads the user id and not the username.

When I first got my computer I signed on this forum and when it asked for user name I did not know that it was the same thing as a Handle so I put in my full name. I would like to change my user name to "scott w". Thanks

So on those old threads where someone has replied to one of your posts by name only (no "quote") anyone who doesn't know the OP's original name and is wondering who the person is replying to has to go back over all the previous posts until they find the quote because the name won't be the same.
