I'm considering buying the dynam turbojet and I need some help. I want more fly time so if possible could u recommend a nice lipo battery. I'm also interested in adding retracts so if anyone knows what works and what doesn't please help me.

Hi Jwright18. Sorry you didn't get a great response, well ANY response, here as a new member to Wattflyer. This is usually the most helpfull, supportive bunch you can find anywhere. There's a possibility no one here has that edf yet. Did you get it?

Well, I just put my order in for one last night, so now there's 2 of us if you did! Don't know if you're still checking back in, but at least I can get this thread started back up for anyone else interested.

Maybe you've already visited other forums on the subject, but from what I've learned for more flight time, you need more mAh. I think it's just a matter of researching battery physical size and weight and capacity, and if they fit the plane physically and aren't too heavy or throw the CG off. I see some have gone to 2 separate batterries. I'll be learning myself.

I'm planning on using flaps and retracts. I'm already installing a set of these Hobbyking servoless retracts on my PZ Corsair:

Well, hopefully you can come back and rejoin us here on Wattflyer. I'm suprised your question, which is essentially a generic 'how do I get more flight time?' didn't get a response before. If I saw it, I'm sure I thought someone more knowledgable on the subject will cover it, and do a much better job of it, though I guess everyone waited for a response from someone who actually has this plane, and it go lost.

Well, it looks looks good and got lots of good reviews, I'll keep posting here on the assy and progress.

Well, it has arrived very quickly! What a good looking machine! A few imperfections: one of the fans has a very bad rub(I contacted customer support and they are sending a replacement fan), and the tail has a little kink in it (see the pic), but otherwise looks good. Aparently, they are painting the canopy 'frame' black now. Strange... I guess they had black paint left over or something? And they painted it on the inside. I was planning on painting it white inside, like an rc car.

I'm suprised a single 2200mAh 20C battery is all that's required to power this. I already have one of those, and another 30C.

The thin chord wings are a little scary, but I read reviews where people said this plane doesn't really need the optional flaps, but I plan on the whole 9 yards, flaps and retracts... Can't help myself. I'll probably fly first without the retracts.

A little 'build' update for anyone who's interested. The fans are rubbing, when I spin them by hand, it seemed the RH one was worse. You can see the fan isn't centered and you can feel the rub it made in the duct. The LH one has a tiny rub most of the way around, but looks centered. So, since I already contacted the vendor, and they are sending me a replacement fan unit (Thinking just the right one was bad), today I cut out the mystery power connector it came with and put in a dean's plug, so I could spin them up, see how bad they are, and check the power with a wattmeter.

Now it seems the left one sounds and vibrates worse... Well, I'll take them both apart and try to balance the fans, and try to center the motors better. They recommend a 3s 2200mAh 20C Lipo, but I used my 30C one, since I thought that might be a big load on my 20C. So it's pulling 36A and 415W. From my limited knowledge on Lipo's, I guess that would be safe for a 20C batt? (2200mAh x 20C=44A draw limit?)

Didn't get much else done, as I was finishing my Corsair retracts, and built my first PVC plane hanger. Fun day, though.

Well I finally maidened her! Flew very nicely. I don't think I even went full throttle for takeoff, or during the entire flight. Very responsive, almost too much, using the control throws called out for. Got her up high for the stall test, and she slows way down, no problem. Got so slow already, I didn't wait for the stall!

I was too nervous (Shouldn't get so attached to my planes...) and botched the first landing attempt and went around. 2nd landing was very fast, but a greaser, as I switched to low rates on approach, fortunately.

My first EDF! Fun stuff, can't wait for next weekend!

Well, 2 more flights on my 'lonely'jet today. Now that I'm not as nervous, it was great. Set the flaps at 75% first flight, back to 100% on the 2nd. She really slows down nice for landing, and I don't need to program any elevator in as there is little, if any pitch change with the flaps. Very stable, lots of power on 3s. I don't know, other than not being a military plane, why people don't seem to care much for it on the web at least. She gets a lot of attention at the field. My only compaint is the shorter than I'm used to flight times. I'll look into going to 2 1600 or 1800 in parrallel to fix that.

LOL! A nibble! Yes it is nice, and I think it's a well-kept EDF secret. Handles and flies great, and look at the whole plan-form: pretty much just like an A-10, just with a standard instead of H tail, which is a plus, since you usually won't get rudders on most A-10 models. She just doesn't seem to have the popularity of the military ones. I guess the photos on Nitroplanes don't help much. Those 2.4Ghz and Turbojet stickers make it look like a 4 yr old's toy. But you get to put the stickers on, or leave them off...

Yes, I love it, and I think it's the only non-military EDF anyone at our field has! Handles really nice, I guess due to the long, straight wing, with plenty of power from twin EDFs. I was keeping up with a nitro P-51 today!

My only complaint is the short flight times. Soon to be remedied as I'm working out how to use my 3200mAh packs in it.

With the confidence I got from this EDF, I'm now looking at perhaps an F-18, F-4, or perhaps the Nitroplanes Concept X.

What's the "story" on these planes?

If I want to use my own TX, and just order the "arf," does it come with motors? Anything else?

The Nitro site is very ambiguous.

Hank's got it covered. And I see it's still on sale for $99. What a steal, a twin EDF rcvr (& battery) ready ARF for under $100? And the cutouts are already there for flap servos and retracts. Only thing is the flap servo cutouts are set so you'll need to reverse one of the servos.

I'm still shopping for retracts. I was looking at the Hobby Lobby ones for their Learjet, but they're out of stock until late October. The 3200 mAh batt and the retracts will be the finishing touches.

Well, I thought I'd dig this one up and let anyone know if they have any interest in an RC business jet, Nitroplanes is having a spring 15% off everything sale, so you can pick this baby up, now WITH RETRACTS, for a few pennies more than $100 after your 15% discount. So, a twin EDF jet with retracts, which you don't need a big battery for (3S 2200, I fly 3S 3200, though some have used 4S), rx and battery ready, for only $100. And as an added bonus, you put the stickers on yourself, so you don't have to put on the flashy TURBOJET and such that makes it look like a 5 year old's pull toy...

I'm in the process of installing retracts in mine now. Great flying plane. Just thought I'd share. The sale is until 4-13.

Looks very tempting. Closely resembles the Cessna Citation. Have a grass field so I would have to hand launch but with the retracts might be able to land it on gear. How well does it fly slow? Just dived into to my first edf with the Jpower Skyangel Red Arrows 50mm T-45. Looks like a good entry level edf.

It was my first EDF. The twin motors give it plenty of power. Like any edf, you don't want to try any 3D maneuvering! I don't have vids, but here's a link to another forum with lot's of them:

I guess the worst thing about this model is the canopy comes with black paint. A little masking and white paint, and it's fixed. As far as flying problems, I just see too many people get too slow landing and stall it in, but they must get really slow, as it slows down plenty already, even if you don't put in flaps. I think some people just inevitably do that when landing, just get slower and slower until...

As far as hand launching or grass, sorry I don't have experience with that.
