The thing's I was at the hobby store and some guy was trying too sell me his second hand EDF. The owner turned around and said if I was interested you could try this model. He does know how experienced I am and he is amazed that I taught myself to fly.
I like the sound of a bungee, I'm getting a pure glider soon which will need a hi-start to launch it .
I think it might be a while before I can fly the Rafale. It's really windy here and there is some rain as well. It seems to be sticking around for awhile.

What I've got is not a replacement for a hi start, won't give you the altitude. It's more of a bungee powered hand launcher for electric powered aircraft. Unlike a hi start it's all self contained. No walking!

Rain, what's rain? Haven't seen any of that since last year when hurricane Dolly came through. Make a deal with you, you send me some rain, I'll send you all the heat you want!

I've seen a home made bungee launcher for EDF . Really meant I'll have some rubber tube though it may not be a good idea cutting some off.
You can keep your heat ,we had enough during summer. When I found a thermometer we had 2 days in a row of 48C outside and 42C inside.
We've been going through a drought so there's not alot of water around. I live in the lower murray river and lakes area of South Australia.
The Finniss river which runs along the boarder of the property has dropped over a metre and did stop flowing during summer.
If I gave you water the greenie's and the SA government would have my ball's!!
I was just looking at RCgroup's and found a thread on the Rafale. It's the same plane just a different box.

Well, you win the heat contest, but not by much. Don't know what you saw on RC Groups I don't do that site. Good info there but too many junk posts of the "Me too" and "I want one" variety you have to wade through to find the good stuff.

Good luck with the Rafale. As I said, it's very stable in flight, just don't let it stall. Might get nasty. I'd recommend waiting for a relatively calm day. It can probably be hand launched, but will require a really strong toss. Landing in fresh mown hay without the gear shouldn't be a problem just keep the nose down until you're ready to flair and, again, don't let it stall.

I'd have too agree with you there. Sometime with a review they start modifying the build. I almost stop reading after that .
Finished it all ,nothing to do but wait for the weather.

Maidened it yesterday and crashed. I got a good lauch both times.
First time with 1/2 throttle. I choose 1/2 because I read that the plane would fly at 30% power. I got out about 5 metres before the plane went straight down into the dirt like a dart and broke the nose.
Thinking that nothing worse could happen I took all the foam that was hanging off and launched it again at full throttle.
Well, it went a further but again headed straight at the ground ,this time tucking under and ripped the tail off.
That night I was checking everything was still working and the fan stopped so I took it apart and found a piece of velcro stuck to the narcelle.
It's almost back together and the fan works better now but my rx is flashing which I think means "brownout" so I might wait and take it to the hobby shop and see what he has to say.

Sorry to see the bad news. It might "fly" at 30% power, but that is when it's in the air and already moving. You need full throttle at takeoff/launch, especially with the stock motor. Again, get some help. You need to have both hands on the transmitter for first flights, until you get it trimmed. Check CG after repairs.

I had it checked out at the hobby store, it's running right and ready for another flight.
Weather really wild at the moment ,wind ,rain even some flooding which is good for the environment and the "gasman" because it makes me drive further to get where I need to go.
I need to make another nose cone ,I think I'm going to make it out of foam.

Unfortunately no, I did miss a day not to long ago but nothing was charged.
Most of my time I have been spending building my Great Planes Spirit Elite.
I haven't full repaired the Rafale but it is flyable.
We've got one month of winter left and the crop of hay outside is growing well.
When it grows a bit taller it should be good to land in !!!
