Default My experience w/ Corona

Hi,

Not sure if this answers your question or not, but it at least gives you a data point.

I've got a Corona 620, the six-channel dual-conversion model, for Futaba radios. My transmitter is a 6EXAS. I first put the Corona crystal in the thing and had real range problems. I called BP Hobbies, from whom I purchased it, and they recommended that I try a Futaba Dual Conversion Crystal. I did so and had immediate double or even triple the distance during a range check.

So, for the 620 at least, a Futaba dual conversion crystal seems to work just fine (better in fact).

Same type issue may be true with the micro Coronas. I only have one, and can't remember what type crystal it has (bought with it) but if its a UM1, then the Berg would probably be better. From what I hear, they are the highest quality UM1 crystals, and will add substantial range to the GWS pico and naro receivers.

Cool Range Check

I just bought a Corona 620. The specs say to range check the thing (antenna down) out to 270 feet! Whoa; I thought 100' was the usual. What distance are people using to range check?

Chellie;

Based on Wattflyer advice, I put in a Futaba Xtal in the Corona 620. Range checked it OK at 150'. It flew fine, but I didn't take it out more than 1/4 mile.

I've switched to Corona synthesized RX's and have had very good luck with the RP4S1. I use that on all my planes.
