Parkzone t28 PNP setup

Hello,
I recently got a PZ t28 PNP. The manual does not offer a lot in terms of how to setup the airplane (control throws, dual rates, expo). I'm hoping someone here can offer some advice. I'll be using a DX6 so I have a number of options available to me.
I have no trouble with my GWS e-starter, and cut my teeth flying a Aerobird 3 so I think the t28 is within my capabilities as long as I take it easy. I've also spent quite a bit of time on a sim. I'm just a little uneasy because I took a PZ spit out a long time ago and wrecked it on the maiden flight (before the estarter). I remember how that felt and I really don't want to go through that again. So I guess what I'm looking for is a setup that gives me enough control authority to have it fly well. But enough stability that I won't be all over the place. Any thoughts?

When I first flew my t-28 I configured 70% rates on all surfaces, and +35% expo (low) and 100% rates and +30% expo (high). I flew low rates only the first few flights until I was comfortable and then made adjustments from there. D/R & expo is somewhat personal preference of course, just sharing what worked for me.
Before setting the d/r & expo, I ensured all control surfaces were neutral when the servos were centered and my TX trims were also neutral, by making mechanical adjustments, and I had each clevis attached to the outermost hole on the control surface horns. This made very little in-flight trim necessary. I also double-checked the CoG and made some adjustments to the nose wheel as it was not tracking on the ground very well initially.
My maiden was quite good - I never pushed the throttle past ~65% and flew a planned, predictable figure 8 for several minutes then brought it in for landing. Taking it easy as you say! Progressed from there

Hey *rider thanks for your input. I was leaning towards the setup you suggested. So it's good to hear that someone has had success with it that way. I'm pretty sure the Trojan will be a great plane once I'm used to it. I did a lot of research on it before I bought it and based on the comments of others it should be the perfect "next step" for someone with my level of experience.
Now I just need to wait for some good weather.....

Agreed this is a great 2nd. / 3rd. plane. It's excellent that you've got aileron experience with that e-starter! You will do great! Before too long you will be asking us about upgrades lol hope you get good weather ASAP, and let us know when you maiden

Does the T-28 still have singing servo's? On ours there was 1 of the digital servos used to make the loudest noise. Even with the canopy on and the plane 50' up, it could still be heard. I was told the T-28 needs a Ubec inline because the ESC in them could not handle 3 digital servos, which is why the one was screaming.
If you get plugged up and have a similar issue, you may want to get a ubec so you dont loose radio signal when all the servos have to move.

I just looked at the manual for the PNP and you are right, there is NOTHING there about control throw recommendations. That is pretty stupid of ParkZone.
I would recommend you send them an e-mail and ask what the control throws should be in inches or MM.

Yeah, I just got my T-28 about a month ago, meant for it to be my second plane, but was my 5th.
It is great! It flies like a trainer, and is very easy and not squirrelly at all! I am already now running the aluminium mount, and a 36 amp esc, for the power 10 I will be getting for it.
