I could be wrong but if I remember correctly I programmed a small mix of up elevator at the same time as the flapperons to offset the nosing down of the plane effect.
My flapperons are working pretty well. I just try to avoid using ailerons at the same time as the flaperons on the approch. I use rudder input instead at slow speeds.

You can couple in elevator with the spoilerons or flaperons to make it sink faster or slower depending on what you need. I had to do this with my MUStick when I added flaperons.

When you try the spoilerons let us know how it went and if it makes a big difference.

Hi Guys,
I really like my T-28 also but had to do over I would cover it (Sig Aerokote lite) instead of paint it. The paint still chips even with krylon. It gets really hard to see in the evening especially when on final approach below the horizon BUT it looks cool!

Dave, I love the paintjob! I have a 'turbulent' history with my T28 - it was my first plane and took a LOT of abuse from me - but now I'm flying it a lot more. I want to get well practiced with it before putting much more time on my Corsair (which is still good-as-new.)

Remembering this thread, I programmed spoilerons into my dx6i the other day, and WOW does it work well - slows the plane right down. I had to go scale it back as my first landing with them kinda dropped at the end! I suppose I could have turned them back off once I got close to the ground...

The 6i lets you dial some elevator adjustment in at the same time, which works perfectly to keep it level.

Thanks everyone for the tips, this is a great plane. I actually like it even more now that I wrecked the motor, and replaced it with a beefier one from hobby city. Pulls out of any issue with ease... actually straight up if want but that eats the battery a litle quick ;o)

Dave, This is a great paint job. I think I will paint one of my "new" T-28 like that and a second one like one of the picture below (picture of actual plane from Wings Palette)

Rob, what motor did you put in your T-28? I installed a Turnigy 35-30C 1100Kv motor on mine this summer. It WAS pulling 300watts of power at WOT before I crashed it to its death . Lots of power for this plane.

The Good news is that I just bought a huge lot of T-28 planes sold for parts by Hobb-e-mart. The lot included 5 fuselages, 4 wings, 4 motors/ESC TX and RX, 2 batteries, 2 chargers, lots of wheels, servos, props etc... enough to bring back my beloved T-28 from the deads and build 3 more planes . One for my friend's son, one for my son and a back-up T-28 for myself in a different color.

Please give me your opinion on these paint schemes. Note that they all existed on a real T-28...

I put the Turnigy 35-36A 1450KV on mine, which is probably more than necessary- should be roughly equal to E-Flite's "Power 15" which a friend of mine put on his Corsair. Still gives you 10 minutes of flight at half throttle, but it's nice to know you have all the thrust you could want or need. I don't think you'd use this with the stock ESC though (mine was only 25A, I hear they come with 30A ones now though.)

Sadly, mine is too beat up to warrant much effort in the paint job, but I did spray the wings fire-engine red with yellow angled stripes underneath (I find it really handy to differentiate top from the bottom easily)

Turn off your auto focus and leave it on infinity. There should be an ICON that looks like a 8 only laying on it's side, that will turn on the infinity.

My T28 plane aslo have a 2.4GHZ wireless camera on it
But picture quality very bad because my transmitter is 2.4 GHZ too
Interfence alot ..even distortion picture
Then I remove it
I should use a regular transmitter 72MHz

Still a cool photo of yours with the lights. I notice it looks like they're all white lights - how do you keep track of which is which side of the plane? We used red super-bright LED lights on the left wing, and green on the right - with a white one underneath for landing, and whatever you want on the tail (I used multi-colored blinking ones)

I wish I had taken a good picture of it, but it works extremely well. I did the same for my super-cub after upgrading it to brushless. Flying at night is a real scream, I'd recommend it to anyone.

I also hear that 900MHz video transmitters work really well, and that would allow you to keep using Spektrum radio gear. Someday I'd like to try that...

Thanks for your ideal ... I did try it but the green light on side wing it seem look alilte weak bright light in the dark. So then I change it all to RED color.
Specially under neat fuselage tail there are 3 Blue LED use to track the Rear of air plane . The front airplane have 2 white LED on 2 wings, The Top plane near by the COWL there is a FLASHING STROBE LIGHT ( Like Photo Flash type) . This helpful when the plane's flying far away .. you're still able see it. Also let you know the plane on inverted flight or Normal flight .
True ... there are alot light sometimes It makes confuse ! But very nice in high altitude , like a scrolling STAR
The Head lamp can control On or OFF just for realistic but I don't think It helpful because The strong light from head lamp will cause your eyes become flury ... you can see well condition, direction of the plane , Specially when It landing agaisnt you.

Default PZ T-28 lots from Hobb-e-mart

Hi,
If you read this post entirely, you may know I purchased last month a large lot of defective T-28 planes from Horizon Hobby through their used e-bay store: Hobb-e-mart. http://stores.ebay.com/Hobb-e-Mart_R...QQftidZ2QQtZkm

This lot turned out to be quite a good deal. For $320 (shipping incl.) I got myself enough parts to fix my seriously damage plane and build 3 more complete planes. I only had to go to my LHS to buy 2 motor mounts, 2 new cowls and some 5 min epoxy to complete them to almost new condition... and I still have 1 fuselage and 1 wing left as spare part just in case.....

There are two more lots of PZ T-28 currently for sale at Hobb-e-mart (follow link above). I though I would share this information with fellow Wattflyers as this is a great opportunity to introduce your sons/daughters and friends to the hobby. (make sure you start them with a simulator / trainer first )

Good luck if you bid on them...

P.S.: I hope you won't beleive I am doing cheap publicity for them, I just want to share a great opportunity.

<sigh> sadly the auction won't take bidders from across the border here, or I'd be all over one of these. I sent them a message asking if they can/will ship here, but I won't hold my breath.

Too bad, this is probably my favorite plane, and I smashed in the front end on mine BUT GOOD. Guess I may just have to buy parts locally, but this would have been awesome.

Default Shipping to Canada

I beleive they will take the bid from Canada as I am registered with ebay Canada and never had a problem with Hobb-e-mart. One weird thing with their store is that you have more items listed on ebay.com than on ebay.ca so you just have to login with ebay.com.

About shipping: their is a huge difference in shipping cost to US versus Canada because of the size of the package. Luckily for me, I get items shipped to my brother in NY and he bring them to me when he comes up. Take longer but at 1/4 of the price.

Good luck.

I did receive a reply back from them - apparently these large lots are too big (literally, they said only by 2 inches!) for their normal shipping routes to Canada. They did say they might consider some slightly smaller lots in the future, and I notice they do have some single-plane items, so we'll see.

The nice thing about these lots is that with a little work and a few spare parts you can get several planes. I had looked into getting one of their single plane auction to replace mine after the crash but came to the conclusion that it was not worth the price (they often go over $100us +$30us Shipping) just ot fix my plane. You can order a new painted fuselage at your LHS (part #PKZ4467 listed at $28.79us) and pay only about $32CAD+tx for it.

One other option would be to bid for the lot on ebay.com and once you win it contact them for shipping options. You can tell them not to ship one fuselage to save space or ship the lot in two separate boxes or two separate shipping. The lot I got was similar in size: 5 fuselages, 4 wings, 4 radios, lots of small parts. It came in 2 separate boxes. Shipping cost to Canada was available to me with UPS for $60.37us.

If you are realy interested in getting many T-28, contact them again and work something out with them, they have great customer service. If you only want to fix yours, get a new painted fuselage from you LHS for $32.

Hmmm except as I already mentioned, they have the auction set so Cdn accouts can't bid on it.

From the response I got though, I am confident that they would try to help out if I were to persist, like maybe make a smaller lot or, as you said, maybe I could offer to buy as much as they can ship, the next time a pile comes in.

Definitely a site worth looking at once in a while though - that's a great find.

Default Bad News

Well guys i havn't been on for a while but im on now so who cares. Lol.
Iv'e totalled my T28 basically, i was flying very very low at almost full throttle and then i gained a bit of altitude ready for a 180 degree turn. I came around the back of a tree and misjudged it completely and my plane when into the tree and came out of the other side with no wing or horizontal stabilizer. I salvaged all the parts, i need a new horizontal stabilizer for sure, a new charger because my mum dropped something on my existing one , and ill probably need a new wing and fuselage because the brace that secures the wing to the fuselage is completley destroyed, and my makeshift one is not strong enough and also leaves gaps between the wing and fuselage. The cost is going to be around £60 i think. I had £215 for christmas, so i might just buy a PnP F27c and swap the gear from my Trojan to that. Will the battery and everything be ok in a Stryker? Also, does the Pz Tx support elevon functions? Of course this is only words, i may also just buy the bits i need for the Trojan xD.

Please reply guys

Regards

Joe

Hey Joe. Sorry to hear this.
Don't quit on it yet.. I have had a few serious crash with my t-28 and fixed it easily.

First: you can always fix a foam wing even if broken in 1/2: just use a few (3-4) toothpicks and some 5 minutes epoxy and put it back together straight. Stronger than new. Been there done that...
You might need to fix any serious dent with epoxy and large electrical tape or packing tape; specially if it is at the leading edge.
Worst case, a new wing is only $35. (part # PKZ4420)
Second: broken wing braces (to the fuselage) is not a problem. Just glue it back together with 5 min epoxy. Be careful to glue it at the right depth to avoid any serious gap. I have done it several time with success.
If needed, you can replace the pins at the rear of the wing with either toothpicks or smal nails with cut-off heads.
Thrid: you can probably fix the horizontal tail/elevator also with toothpicks and epoxy. If not get a new one for $11 (part#PKZ4425)

I repaired my T-28 many times, The only time I could not do it was when I had totally destroyed the nose and the firewall. I was not able to put all the pieces back together as there were too many of them. By the way, I did that same mistake once crashing into the trunk of a large pine tree I had misjudged...

Good luck and please don't quit on the T-28 yet. Just get a few toothpicks and a $5 tube of 5 minutes epoxy. It does miracles to foam planes...

Happy holidays

JC
