Default Electric Motor Distributors, Vendors, Manufacturers

Hello Everyone,
Here's a list of sources for electric motors. I've tried to include the original manufacturers where I could find them, and vendors/distributors in the US and UK. Other outlets are welcome, please reply here and I'll add them to the list.
I don't have every outlet for a specific motor; Hopefully a couple for each brand name will be enough.
If you don't see a brand name listed, post a link and I'll add it!
This list was originally under "Builders Links" and there is a link from there to here. http://www.wattflyer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=14117

Ron,

www.headsuprc.com For TowerPro motors and ESCs

www.bphobbies.com For AXI, BP, Castle Creations, ELE, E-Sky, Feigao, GWS, MotorMax, Welgard motors and ESCs

I also stickied your thread, hope that's ok. If not, we can change it, but I liked the idea of it being on top, easy to find.

Compilation of outrunner manufacturers, kit/parts manufacturers too:
http://www.rclineforum.de/forum/thre...did=43664&sid=

Unfortunately, I cannot edit the list (first message) anymore because I have not edited it for too long, apparently. So you have to work your way back through the thread to find manufacters not mentioned in my first message.

Prettig weekend Ron too

Default Great List!

Hi Ron,
Thank you for the list, lots of good info there.
I'll have to leave it as you posted for now, it's too long to add to the sticky. When I get time I'll try to sort out the ones that are duplicated on the sticky and make another list.
Thanks again!

HobbyCity / UnitedHobbies SUCKs! My last three orders (NO backorders) SAT in their warehouse que for over 8 wk days, the last one in mid February (WELL after Chinese New Years) was 9 days unshipped, when I finally had it with them and filed a dispute for a full refund ($165) through PayPal.

Update 6 months later - took another couple chances on Hobby City and they have improved their warehouse output time, now to the 2 - 3 days range. But their shipping charges are still outrageous, mainly because they inflate the products "shipping" weight (they must be leaving their thumbs on the scale when weighing each). Also noticed that a lot of products are always out of stock, or for months on end.

I will NEVER buy from those HK slackers again. Besides they make nothing; their Turnigy etc. brands are only relabeled XYH motors and ESC's and you can get them from other sources that DO ship promptly (24 - 48 hours!)
I had one order with them with no back orders that took 7 Week's a while back,, Heads up RC's my fave , bub steve

I am putting another order together now.

Bad bad bad on the link - http://electrofly.free.fr/ - it opens a, "uninvited" malware Gambling site in another window!!

On another note - United Hobby MAY HAVE cleaned up their lazy shipping act due to a LOT OF PEOPLE complaining on various Forum sites like this one. I took a chance and ordered some sweet 28mm Brushless inrunners (2700kv) for use with gearboxes in gliders and they shipped within 3 days. Then placed a bigger order (couple hundred US bucks) with EMS shipping and they shipped in one day, got it in 4 to the Worst Coast US.

We'll see how long this timeliness lasts.

Hi Ron,

i've got a suggestion, maybe if someone has an abundance of knowledge to share, one could come up with a list/table of motor alternatives/compatability across the different brands. For e.g. An ammo 28-35-2700 can be replaced by a hacker_____ or a himax_______etc.

just a thought =o) or maybe something like this exists already!

Default Motor Exchange?

Hello Electrictomato,
That would be a great idea, if someone had the time and a calc with enough motors in the database. I don't know of any large-scale comparison tables, but have seen a few lists of comparable motors, e.g. "A Speed 400 can be replaced with these brushless motors...".
Most pilots use the traditional "Watts" or "Watts per pound" (of model weight) rule to upgrade/replace motors.
"• 50-70 watts per pound; Minimum level of power for decent performance, good for lightly loaded slow flyer and park flyer models
• 70-90 watts per pound; Trainer and slow flying scale models
• 90-110 watts per pound; Sport aerobatic and fast flying scale models
• 110-130 watts per pound; Advanced aerobatic and high-speed models
• 130-150 watts per pound; Lightly loaded 3D models and ducted fans
• 150-200+ watts per pound; Unlimited performance 3D and aerobatic models"
If you have a specific motor or size in mind, you could try posting a separate thread here in Power Systems, asking about direct replacements.
Ron

Default Can't find "BIG FOOT" or "MONSTER" motors

I have bought both BIG FOOT and MONSTER MOTORS from Hobbypartz. They still list them, but they have been out of stock for many months and I can't get an answer as to when they will have them again. I loved them especially the Monster Motor. Can you tell me where I can find them?

Default Handy chart

Innov8tive.com has a handy chart to cross reference about 11 or so different motor manufacturers that are similar to their Cobra and Scorpion motors.
Downloadable pdf.
