I would have to agree on that one. A friend and I were combatting ours in a 50 x 100' barn and he got into mine. When that happened, it got mine tilted such that it went into rapid forward flight... It went the length of the barn and hit full force on the door, as I was still trying to pull back and slow it down when it hit...

All I broke was the upper shaft where the flybar mounts to.

Also, on the same day, I saw his get up in a ventilation wheel in the roof of the barn. he cut power to get it down, and it dropped like a rock the 25 feet to the concrete floor.... no damage...

I have had no problems with my MCX. I chase the dog around the house. land on the fan blades, fall off and wack the floor.

I did change the blades out, but that is because I wanted the glow in the dark blades. my regular blades are still fine.

I do wish I could extend the shaft between the lower and upper blades to get some more clearance between the blades

Talking Crash'n & Lovin It!

I have used up two top blades so far and the flybar & the top of the shaft.

The weakest part is the ball on the top blade. I guess you could end up with a blade set that is not as strong as another... but that's just the way things are with me.

I also fly my mCX really HARD. I did my speed-up radio adjustment and it can get you in trouble but it's all about fun

Build Review Parts Shortage

Well I guess we know the weakest part on the mCX now - the flybar & head (w/inner shaft).

The LHS's and Horizon do not have any flybars in stock. Horizon says after Jan 1st and knowing them that is a month or two before they actually become available.

The ball joints on the upper blades are a weak point as well.

FYI: The Vapor's weak point is the rudder. The LHS stocks loads of these.

So I'm grounded for now...

The flybar head is the only part I've broken on mine as well.

I have snapped one of the ball joints off of the top blades. I tookt he fly bar off and turned it around and used the other.

Then I just bought the glow in the dark blades and it is fine.

I am getting more noticeable tail wagging.

Bad controller ???

I notice that when the battery starts getting low and adding power that the tail swings some but that's just the design and I compensate for it.

Using my speed upgrade has been causing a bit more damage to my mCX.

I to flip-flopped the flybar to the other ball joint then eventually had to get new blades.

Hi, I am new to the list. I have had my mCX for about two weeks and I have been really impressed with it's durability. I haven't broke any parts till last night when I got to frisky and ended up running it full tilt into the wall. It broke the canopy and hopefully the LHS is the state I am visiting will have one in stock. Thanks for all the great information members have shared on this thread.

Default Canopy Crack

Just tape it up with some scotch tape unless it's really messed up.

While you're at the store get an extra set of top blades & a flybar with inner shaft (but that will probably be out of stock).

Get some more heli batteries too.

ThanksCaltrop, I have extra blades upper and lower, flybar, but no inner shaft. I got a new body today but will order another and the inner shaft. I have been really impressed with the durability of the Blade. When I see I have lost it and it is getting ready to crash I try and always kill the power (min. throttle) and it has survived so far. The body seems to be a great shock absorber. I will try taping the old body and see how it goes. I goy some park zone batts and now I have 5. So it is pretty good. The PZ batts have about 1 min. less flying time. But, they were available and that beats the heck out of no extra batts.

Default CRASH's

I too kill the power FAST when going down. In large heli's you hit the throttle kill switch.

The mCX you notice the top blade spins a bit longer than the bottom blades when killing the power. That's because of the extra flybar weight on top. This is why the top parts break more. Even when killing the power immediately things can still get messed up.

You should see my Blade CP Pro's canopy. There's tape all over the place. I even went so far as to use colored trim sheet and add stripes and stuff.

It's no fun if you don't crash. I was really paranoid when first getting into RC but you will crash sometime, get used to it & have fun!

Wooooooooooooooooooo Hooooooooooooooooo, I have just become a member of the mcx club. Thanks Santa.

It is very cool, my only prooblem is that I have had too many beers and I am scared to death of crashing it uner the influence (btw that would equal less than no sympathy from my lovely wife).

Cheers and merry christmas.

Question Parts Shortage

It's been a month now and still no flybar or top shaft/hub. I think there are also no top blades available either.

The Horizon web-site says mid January bafore these parts are available. So that means probably February sometime or later.

Guess they underestimated the need for these spare parts.

I'm looking forward to the new fully aerobatic micro plane that's in the works. It's about the same size as the Ember but is fully aerobatic. It's going to be COOL!

Lightning Power 130mAh 3.7V li-po for Blade MCX

Has anyone tried these yet? Will they last longer with more recharge cycles or give long run times?

I have noticed shorter run times with my e-flight batteries over time but I have run them down more than once.

I have used the Tenergy Lipos and I get a few more minutes of flying time.

I have noticed that when battery power drops off left rudder control is lost. Is this to be expected or do I need to replace the motor?

No that is typical to lose some rudder authority as the power sags off.

Default Does your mCX want to go in one direction for no reason?

OK not sure if anyone has encountered this yet, but I did today, so I figured I would pass it along. After a co-worker had an "inadvertent ground encounter" while flying the mCX, On the next flight, it had a constant rearward-flight tendency. At first I thought I had not slid the battery in fully, but what happened was the swashplate became unsnapped in the rear, tilting the swash and making the heli fly backwards. Something to look for if you encounter unexplained directional bias.

I snapped the swash back in place, and all is well with the world (as far as my mCX goes).

That happened to me once as well. Luckily I remembered this happening with my CX2 swash when I had it so it saved me hours of frustration. Hopefully your post will save others as well.

After reading all the positive comments on the mCX I had to go buy one this morning. It's
raining and I was going into "no flying withdrawals". It's excellent, no complaints except
the battery is really difficult to remove from the charger. Also, I would have gladly paid
an extra 2 bucks to have an AC adapter for the charger. It flies great and I would
recommend it to anyone regardless of flying experience.
