P.S. We havnt talked about diving entries or verifying wind direction or making two runs back to back in opposite directions etc etc. All those pesky "contest like" requirements that might be present if we were trying to make this some sort of official thing.

Im all for keeping it loose and easy. If the dopplar run shows the speed - up wind down wind down hill or up hill - then its good enough for me

I do think maybe somene other than the pilot should provide the confirming dopplar though

Unless we all want to do it differently?

I Like Loose and Easy Sounds good to me Larry

Darn, I guess that pylon racer is gonna need a new prop, not sure I can handle that much speed though...given that the racer rarely hits WOT, even at altitude, oh well, lets rock and roll!

Hummm, I think the fastest I have flown is 127 MPH with my Fun Jet, however we didn't get it on video. One of the guys I fly with [Mark D.] also flys one of those powered paraschutes. He wears a small gas 4 stroke motor on his back swinging a 50 some inch prop, anyway....he has a small hand held GPS unit that we tucked into the canopy of my FJ. He set it to record max speed and after a couple of passes on 6S it said 127. something MPH. I was running the same motor as wWing Tips but he got more speed out of his set up. Ill have to see how fast I can go this spring and post a video. For now you'll just have to take my word on it.

The readings were better than I thought they would be. Your a long ways from the camera and way hi so these numbers are going to be off some.

Still - Not bad at all!

Pass 1 = 116mph

Pass2 = 80mph

Pass3 = 87mph

Id still like to see how it compares to the Wicked motor but we need runs with the exact same prop and we need rpm and watt numbers

Hi CTD It does not Matter Who is First, Second or Third, etc, as long as your plane is Proven to Fly at above 100mph and a video is availible so others can Doppler it for you or verify it, thats all that matters, so there is a Check and Balance, sure there will be some Doppler readings that will be a little different one might show 110 and another 111, close enough its over 100mph, Your In You are not competing against others, you can if you want to you are Challanging Yourself to do Better, to go faster, Its all about your Ability, and Willingness to do a little better the next time around, at least it is for me, Take Care, Chellie.

It has nothing to do with getting old either. Its what happens when your trying to build a new design, kill the dog AND the cat, play with the grandson and get the wife to forgive you

Larry

P.S. Dont tell anyone, but Ive figured out how Im going to get one of those awards! Im going to take an old dead slow stick, tie a cement block to it and toss it off a cliff and dopplar it on the way down. All I have to do is get some one to run the camera......

Chellie,
Do you want to update the first post with the members who should be awarded and what speed? That way we can keep a running list and let this thread be the catch all?

Here are the videos Larry.

First one is a 4.5x4.1 Lynx on 4s

Second is a 4.7x4.2

Last is a 5x5 on 4s

I think my cameraman got better audio when he was not follow the plane, hence why it is either pointed to the sky or ground.

See, NOW your talkin my language Chellie! Well, ALMOST. Posi is a GM thing, Mopars have "Sure-Grips", not posi. I had a 68 383 Road Runner, but, I traded it for my 70 Challenger back in 94. Still have the Challenger.

Anyway, I like the first award "emblem" the best.

I have one plane that will go over the 150mph, and a few that easily went over 100mph. All on radar guns, but I guess I can get some doppler stuff posted too. So, just one more thing to do!

Hmmm... 200mph... I bet I can do it. I wonder how much power the SRT/10 would need to get over 200mph?? Jeremy, you out there?
