Default MELTED Blade 400 ESC!

So today I was working on my hovering in the garage on my new (3 days) Blade 400. After a pause I noticed the motor wouldn't start again, and smoke started billowing out of the ESC, followed shortly by a small flame. I was using a Mystery 2200 mah 25C battery, (the 3rd one of that sort), on the stock ESC and motor. Anyone see a problem with that setup? Also, I'd like to pull the ESC out of my Parkzone Corsair temporarlily which is the Eflite 30amp Pro SB brushless and use it. Will that be OK with the stock Blade motor? Thanks for any help.

You've just discovered what dozens if not more B400 owners have seen. That ESC is not suited for the B400 and is known to smoke. The 30A should do until you can get another ESC. Just don't get another stock unit.

Good thing you caught it before it set the heli on fire.

Think I am ok to use that 30amp unit from the Corsair for good?

I swapped out the ESC, but now the motor is spining the wrong direction. Any thoughts as to how I get it back spinning the right direction?

Disregard this one, discovered on the motor forum that I could swap a couple of the motor leads to reverse the direction. It's up and flying again.
Thanks for the help.

Should be OK. It's no smarter or dumber than the thing that came in the B400.

Now go fly already!!

Contact HH and let them know what happened. I'm pretty sure they'll replace the ESC for you.

I sent an email and picture to the A Main Hobbies where I ordered it from. We'll see what they have to say. Thanks.

Go directly to Horizon. It's what Horizon and A-Main would want you to do. HH should send you a new one. Sell it. Don't use it.

Ok, I'll try that. I think I will sell it, the one I pulled out of my plane seems to work great, and stays nice and cool.

30A is enough for the B400. I used to work part time in a hobby shop. Horizon has terrific customer service and prefers you contact them directly with warranty issues. We used to just go ahead and deal with Horizon for our customers that asked us to but the result was always the same. The only difference was the store was the middle man.

Glad that ESC is working for you.
