Volts 8.4 Gearbox 2.33:1 Battery: 7.2v 20C 1550mAh using a Electrifly C-12 ESC for Brushed Motors Prop: 9x6, with more suggestion from HL, I now tried a 10xAA battery pack with no better power. I'm just not getting any forward thrust. Whats wrong in this setup. (Besides me)

Sounds like a simple "this motor is not big enough" problem. Not sure if you could run a 3S on it and that will help, but lessen the life of the brushed motor. You are looking for around 18-24 oz of thrust (if that is your AUW).

Default Which Motor please.

Lets say I'm not rich, what motor would you suggest. I would like to use my 7.4v batteries. First is 10C 7.4V 1800mAh 2cell, next 2 cell 7.4v 1000mAh LiPo mini Battery, and the third 20C 1550mAh 7.4V 2Cell, I also have a 10xAA 1000mAh 10cell. So knowing I want to use them, the Plane is a "Cloud Ranger" by Herr coming in at about 22 to 24 Oz, with about a 10 oz wing load. Thank you

If you want to stick with the brushed motor, I'd suggest trying out a 6V speed 400 and something like a 10x7 prop if you have the ground clearance (9x6 or 9x7.5 if not). You might not be able to use the 1000mAh pack if it can't put out at least 12A, but the other lipo packs would be okay. I wouldn't suggest running the AA pack since it's heavy, but if you do I would stick with the 9x6 with that pack.

Also, run an electric prop - it looks like the one you have one there now might be a glow prop (sorry if I'm mistaken). The E props are more efficient.

Default I had the same problem with a Mini Telemaster........

It called for the same set up. Not enough power. I went with the 2830 Hobby city Outrunner with a simple series 30amp esc.
With frieght and everything the new power system was about $30.00.
Big differance, takes off in about 15 feet, flys well.
Just my 2 cents worth.......

Default Now I'm confused.........

I just went back and looked again at the pictures posted, and the one of the full plane shows it to have a gold and silver out-runner on it. IT even has a prop saver hub.

Welcome to Wattflyer, Dillon.

Using only your 2 cell lipos, I think that brushless outrunner with direct drive is the way to go. You can get motor, mounts, and esc for $30, which will almost double your current thrust, plus add a little more speed.

If you want to stay brushless, you could a get a long can speed 400 motor, which will take more amps, then add something like a 10x4.7 prop for more thrust. You could also get a speed 480 race motor, but the cost of that is the same as a whole brushless setup.

Regards,

Gary
