I have found some interesting planes here: http://www.theplanpage.com/
And there are some planes here on this Forum, but you have to be a member to get access to the planes: http://www.hippocketaeronautics.com/hpa_forum/index.php
And The Small Flying Arts also have some planes, most free flight and rubber. And a few electrics: http://www.smallflyingarts.com/
Fly Electric have some planes in PDF format:http://www.flyelectric.ukgateway.net/
Bob Holman have some great planes and short kits, but they are not for free:
http://www.bhplans.com/

I have more resources for model building, and I am putting them together in a Blog I am working on at this time.

Looking for a Zombie- Anyone at all. Ever here of a free flight gas model called the "Zombie"? It was a kit, don't remember whose. WS about 36 inches, wing on a pylon, mine had a small Ohlsson and Rice coil ignition. I'd like to find plans or old plane and electrify it.

Any leads appreciated, Thanks, Fly

PS, I forgot, this was a 1950-51 vintage kit.

The Zomby was designed by Leon Shulman in 1940, appeared in Air Trails in April 1942 and was kitted by Megow from 1942 to 1946 Class A job was 44" which is probably the one you're looking for. Klarich Kits has the Zomby/Super Zomby in 44",61" and 72" size

Default Thanks for the lead

Many, many thanks for the lead on the Zomby. I will contact Klarish kits. I'm getting a bit long in tooth but I might have one more build in me. For "old times sake". Thanks again, Fly

Default Old Timers Custom Kits

Here is another web site that I have come across to this year. They will make your kit and comes with plans as well. Some kits will take at least 8 weeks to complete before they ship it out to you. I have done some Cambells kit and it not for the those in a hurry.

Loads of OT plans out there :

hippocketaeronautic

outerzone

and many other sites. Just means looking through as they are mixed in alphabetically with more modern stuff.

Default Silk or Dope

Thanks Abuelo, I like to sheet the wings on silk, but at 108" it's gonna cost me some big bucks and dope is nice too, did help my dad do some dope and had to do it outside in a screened tent cause of the fumes, but man did it look great after the finish coats been applied. On this one I like to see through the Monokote colors and Coverite fabric, but before I need to apply this, I'll will be doing a sample on a damage wing that I have and see how the two react each other. Id like to do some Old Timers scalloping on the leading edge.

Default Plans and Kits

Hi Solentlife, Yeah the web sites for some address for plans and kits are nice to see. Sure miss going to the Hobby Store and see the kits in hand and not on a computer or magazine. Most a ARF or RTF models, I like building them, it gives me a prospective outlook on how a wing functions for such type of models, how ribs are placed, how bulk heads and composites carbon or glass help strengthen load areas when needed for RC radio placements. Anyway glad to be here with you folks

If you think a silk and dope finish might work, take a look at Dharma Trading Co for the silk and acid dyes and Aircraft Spruce for the nitrate dope. I've ordered and used their products and was pleased with the results, plus their prices are not bad (i.e. lightweight silk at about $5.00 a square yard). Both companies are on the web.

Abuelo. Thanks for that link. They seem to be a pretty good company and postage is good also. I have been searching for a decent silk supplier for some time.
