Default Battery Selection

Can I use Li-ion/18650 Battery instead of Ni-cd/Ni-Mh in my RC boat.I'm using a 360 Brushed motor,20A Brushed ESC & Fs-CT6B Tx-Rx.

In a boat you should be fine. Weight and capacity is the biggest problem with almost all round Li-Ion cells when it comes to aircraft. In a boat where you usually need to add some ballast it could actually be beneficial. I've been culling 18650 cells from laptop packs and putting them in just about everything especially all of my transmitters and for bench testing servos etc. Depending on your voltage requirements you may need to use one extra Li-Ion cell than if you would have normally used Li-Po. There is LOTS of 18650 info out there on Google.

Hopefully Ron will pop in here as well. That guy must have a photographic memory as he always has the best info and especially useful web links when it comes to this stuff.

Motor doesn't care where it gets power from as long as the voltage is right....

It could be that you may be slightly lower in voltage - but with the Lithium cells - they can punch more amps .... so need to monitor your ESC to make sure it can handle it.

yep, many guys use lipo battery for RC boat, and you need to choose the suitable capacities and C-rating.
