Default dollar tree foam wing

flew my dollar tree foam wing yesterday flies great and very stable. It was a easy build very fun plane to fly and on windy days you can still fly with no problem.

Very Nice Nova. How well does it fly?

Maybe you can tell me why my wing just goes left and straight down.

Hey fishbonez this wing flies great. Do you have any angle to your motor on your wing or is it straight also have you checked your cg. These could be a few of your problems. Here is some video of mine you can see it a few times I will get some better video when I get my other camera set up.http://youtu.be/gM4Fd3bW72Q

Nice, did you make it from plans or was it a "mind's eye project"?

Thanks I will check into that. I have a feeling the CG is wrong so I am going to have to look into one of them formulas to figure CG....I hate math LOL

I just built this wing from drawing lines and eventually getting this shape I did make up a set of plans if anyone else wanted to build one. Fishbonez here is the wing cg calculator I use for my wings. http://fwcg.3dzone.dk/

There is another wing in the works it is same design but is a 60 inch wingspan I have three different airfoils on three smaller wings when I find the best one I will finish up the 60 inch one. I am thinking of trying FPV with this one. Will keep you posted.

Default 60 inch wing maiden

She flew there was 10-15 mph. swirling wind but it was a good maiden here is a short video to show she got off the ground I have to do some editing and I will put up some more. If you have all the material you can build one of these in 2-3 hours. here is some longer video.http://youtu.be/NwjAR7oi4Bo

Great Job Nova looks very good.
Pepcid these are very easy to build and relatively cheap as well. I know you were looking for an inexpensive plane/build from another thread. To give you an idea google swift 2 (I just built one of these myself) or assassin, these are kits that you can purchase for about 60 dollars add you just add you own electronics to it and have a blast. Delta wings are the best all around flyer you can have. They can be slow or fast however you wish to make them.

Well my first 30 inch wing got retired today I had my radio set up for the 60 inch wing and I forgot to reverse my aileron switch back and I did this really good rainbow trick straight into the ground at full speed. I have parts for my new wing project now.

Well I did my maiden flight on my new 30 inch wing tonight it flies but it is not as stable as my other one and it has a kfm4 airfoil and my other one was a kfm2 airfoil that was like 90% of chord. I will do some more flight to see if I can get it smoother.

Hey Nova
Excuse me for my ignorance but since I am new to wings I am unsure what a Kfm4 airfoil is. So i gotta ask what is that?

Hey fishbonez,
The kfm4 airfoil is supposed to provide more lift than a kfm2 airfoil here is a diagram showing the different airfoils.

Flew my new wing again today and got it trimmed and it flies great! I added winglets to the bottom and top of the wing tips and it is very stable no wig wag at high speeds real nice flyer.

Hey dimeflyer,
on post #6 there is a drawing of my 30 inch wing and I still have to draw a plan for my 60 inch wing it is the same design just scaled up and the three planes have different airfoils.

Thank you for the pic. and the info for the wing setups , I found a video about wings
for the regular type planes that the fellow claims is strounger than any standered
wings for the amount of foam sheet it takes to build them from .
But the power co. cut power in our area to make improvements to our grid before
I could save the darn program to disk so I can't find it again now !!
So much for progress ?
