Default Young kid builds and flies amazing 'Magnus Effect' plane

I was quite amazed by this. I had never seen or even heard of a Magnus Effect plane until Finley showed up with what looked like an upside down lawn mower. He's a very articulate kid and talked me through the physics of how this thing works. It doesn't just flies really well...and he built it totally from scratch. Quite looking forward to seeing what he comes up with next.

WOW....Quite a young lad. Very interesting and challenging project. Wonder if he might think about tackling perpetual motion next.....

That is really amazing. It looks like it climbs based on airspeed.

A future engineer, very impressive. There has been Nobel piece prize recipients that don’t deserve it, this young man deserves one. He had better copyright this before someone steels it from him.

I thought all planes climb based on airspeed?

The Magnus effect is also used in another, one would think unrelated activity: Baseball. Think about it, it's the spin of a baseball as it leaves the pitcher's hand that determines whether it rises, falls or curves, all based on the angle of that spin.
