I started flying in March of 2003 with a small electric RTF. Since then I have become more of a pilot. I fly pure gliders for TD, DLG, slope and aerotow. My electrics include the Radian, Easy Glider Electric, Aerobird Challenger, HobbyZone Phantom, Carbon Kestral, Carbon Falcon, GWS AT6, SmoothE, Night Vapor, micro Sukhoi, Electrajet, Piper Cub and two micro helis.

I fly a pair of Futaba 9C Super radios on 72 MHz as well as Spektrum and Futaba 2.4 GHz. I went the module route so I could switch either radio to 2.4 or 72 without problems.

I am a member of the Long Island Silent Flyers. www.lisf.org. I published numerous articles for RCEzine, RC Soaring Digest and Model Aviation. However most of my articles have been posted on the forums with the goal of helping new electric and glider pilots. I also published an e-book on Wattflyer and RCUniverse, “Everything You Wanted to Know About Electric Flight”.

I hope you enjoy this hobby as much as I do.

Lipos are not the dangerous things that people make them out to be IF you follow the instructions that come with your charger. But I will consider doing an article. But there is a lot out there already.

    Hi AEAJR.

I have loved you're educational threads, and even have a few copied. I would like to see one, a detailed one, for the beginning lithium user (I'm talking about power cells, naturally). I know you have a precautionary one, but it really doesn't say much about the proper care and usage of these temperamental power sources.

What I am thinking of is this: Imagine you were teaching a total newbie about how to properly use, charge, balance and store their new Li power packs. Imagine they know nothing about them and you want to be totally confident that after your lessons that they can safely and properly go LiPo (or Li-ion) without damaging their packs or nuking the local flying field.

Think you can do this (please)?

Send you an email. No problem.

Do you think there would be a problem with making the "Everything you wanted to know about electric powered flight" PDF available on my website. I will give credit as well as a link back to this forum. I think it would be a great help to newcomers in the hobby.
